One of the ways to get into medical school without taking the MCAT is to go through a provisional medical school admission process. There are currently a few schools in the Caribbean Region that will allow a student to gain acceptance into colleges as well as medical school soon after the completion of the high school. However, there are certain requirements that a student must obtain in order to guarantee the acceptance.
The Medical
College Admission Test (MCAT) is required for all the medical school
candidates into almost all the medical schools in different countries. But
there are some Schools in the Caribbean, popularly called as the Caribbean
Medical Universities, that have opted o make the MCAT criterion voluntary. Overseas,
the MCAT becomes less of a requirement and more of an option. Some of the top
medical schools in Caribbean, for example, do not require students to submit
MCAT scores.
Are some
of the Universities that do not require the MCAT Scores for the admission to
the programs.
Getting
into medical school is difficult. The admission criteria would include the high
GPA, high MCAT score, and quality extracurricular activities in the medical
field. The acceptance rate of the students qualifying the mentioned criteria
will be little more than 3%. Since it is a very low percentage, the Caribbean
Medical Schools would cut down the MCAT Scores so as to enhance the strength of
the students getting enrolled into the institution. No wonder pre-medical students are killing
themselves trying to get in.
There are many people who desire to be
a doctor. It takes a lot of preparation and years of school. Knowing the basics
about medical school admissions requirements will help you be prepared and
ready to begin your journey as a doctor. There are basic common requirements
that all schools have.
An admissions board wants to know what
type of person you are, what you are interested in and why you want to do what
you do. Your interview will consist of all of these as well as your speaking
skills, so be prepared to answer questions effectively.
